Rini Barman is an independent writer, essayist and researcher based in Guwahati, Assam(India). She is the recipient of a grant from the India Foundation for the Arts(Bangalore) for conducting research on traditional ornaments in Assam. Her essay on local rice beer published by Zubaan(Delhi) won the Population First’s Laadli Media Award in 2018. Her essays on art, gender, culture etc. have been published in Himal South Asian, The Mint Lounge, The Wire, The Indian Express among other places.
