Richard Dawkins caused a minor controversy on Monday with a tweet purporting to provide evidence for one of his most firmly held beliefs: the superiority of Western civilization to Islam.
Listening to the lovely bells of Winchester, one of our great mediaeval cathedrals. So much nicer than the aggressive-sounding “Allahu Akhbar.” Or is that just my cultural upbringing? pic.twitter.com/TpCkq9EGpw

But according to a stunning document shared with Popula by Wikileaks, it turns out he was initially undecided on this issue. As a scientist, Dawkins approached this question methodically, performing actual calculations regarding the relative merits of Western and Islamic civilizations. Shockingly, the result was a draw. While Dawkins has said publicly that Western culture is superior, that claim is contradicted by evidence he has suppressed. Until now.
You can see for yourself just how close it was in his research notes, presenting the data in full. The chart reproduced below shows just how his results were obtained—and why he has tried to hide them.
