Tokyo
Last night two of my neighbors had a party I think and my room was in the middle. I just moved here two months ago but they are so quiet all the time except one of them having sex at night with her boyfriend, so I don’t really have a clue who they are. I thought, This is my chance to get to know them through my walls. Both of the parties sounded pretty young like in their 20s but I think I was tired or god thought I shouldn’t know who they were because I just passed out on a sofa with a sleeping bag. I woke up at 4:46 remembering my dream. It was something about a huge Italian rock I got with someone I care for and my grandma changing her eyeballs as if they were contact lenses. Then my parents injected something to fish – it extracts some colors from them.
Anyway I woke up and took a deep breath for few minutes and do some stretch then turn on De’Longhi started to make bancha (which is considered the lowest grade of green tea but it tastes very roasty and I like it). While water is on fire I turn on my computer and bring the sleeping bag and a blanket to my chair to make a chair for working. Then I start to work. I’ve been writing a script for a movie. I’d say first two hours are pretty slow—I’m still sleeping and I just sit in front of the computer half-conscious, but I drink tea once in a while and it’s winter then I go toilet few times. Then something wrong with the toilet machine, after flashing the water keeps running for ten minutes or so. I need to fix it but I haven’t.
Around 6:50 I took out a caramel butterscotch biscuit which is exclusive thing you can get only in the airport in Hokkaido. I eat it with the tea and it’s amazing. Then now I start to wake up and write write write write, then past eight a.m. sun starts to give me sunshine and the room temperature starting up and up. I feel the sunlight on my back and turn off De’Longhi and put the sleeping bag away. Write write write and today is December 29th but suddenly I remembered today is the last day of the year banks are opened, then I texted to my best friends group saying go to the bank today. I don’t really care and ATM will be opened anyway all the time so whatever, but somehow I just wanted to send them the text. Write… then nine a.m. I eat my breakfast which today an orange, and I got 15 kiwis for 200 yen three weeks ago but they never get soft, and I still have seven or eight, so I put a couple of them in a food processor with honey and ate it. It was still pretty sour. After that I watered some plants then opened windows for a fresh air. Watching a cleaner collecting bottles and cans the sound of glass bottles karan karan karan and I was wondering if that cleaner is a man or woman. It was hard to tell. Then I went back to write more.
Then today I had to have a lunch with my two best friends so I took a bath and cut out a leaf from aloe vera plant and use it for my skin and wear some warm clothes I wear all the time and left the apartment. I went to a bank first and took out some money, and at that moment I realized I was totally almost forgetting to pay my rent so I did it. Exit. Then I was walking and I could feel the end of this year—people making mochi on the street and stuff. While I’m walking on the street I often think about my love life or the future plan or whatever comes to my mind while I’m looking at asphalt ground or some plants on the street.
Then I had the lunch with my friends at Japanese BBQ restaurant. BBQ set was like 1080 yen. Rice beef salad soup kimchi and pickles. Then we went to a diner for coffee then after that walked some and went in another restaurant and had more coffee. Another girl joined and the conversation was blooming with their love life. One night love sex stand story and she thinks that’s a good revenge for her recent heart broken. Another girl had a music box hug—whatever it is—with her distant lover. Anyway I had many vegetables in my fridge so I went home.
On the way back I thought about the person I picked up the huge Italian rock with in my dream, and how I’ll spend my two more days of the year. I cooked Japanese-style simmered vegetables nimono then rice. I don’t like cooking Japanese food because I have to wait for seaweed to sleep in water for a while for the broth and all that. I dropped mountain potato on the floor twice when I was peeling skin off because it’s so slippery. I’m so slow and bad cooker that it took me two hours to make my food. By the time I had my dinner it was 10:40 p.m. I cracked a raw egg on the rice hoping the egg is not too old. It was OK.
Then I took a bath. Then I made my bed. Then I set my projector and checked my USB stick which movie is on but nothing was for my mood so I checked a streaming service and finally picked a Hong Kong action crime movie, A Better Tomorrow. Started to watch it and bunch of men with sunglasses were walking around and I fell asleep.
